Whatever Happened On the Way to the Swamp?

A funny thing happened on the way to Nancy Pelosi ‘draining the swamp’ of corruption in the House and airing out that beloved institution, her Democrats have been weighed and been found wanting. But don‘t blame her, perhaps she just couldn’t see the corruption from the aid via her new tax payer provided jet.

Amid accusations from the House Ethics Committee against the powerful Democratic Head of the Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Charlie Rangel, his ultraliberal compatriot California Representative Maxine Waters is also in trouble with the same Ethics Committee.

I guess I have never forgiven Waters for supplying every citizen in her district with a $100 check after the riots sparked by the Rodney King beating.  It should be noted that most of her constituents were virtually rewarded for rioting and looting.  And that is the incident that ushered in the Era of Smaller Government and Executive Abuse, the Clinton Era.

Fearing the worst in November the president recently entered the fray.  He called on Rangel to resign with dignity… ahh, Mr. President, dignity stopped a long, long time ago with Charlie.

“And he’ll– he’s somebody who’s at the end of his career. Eighty years old. I’m sure that– what he wants is to be able to– end his career with dignity. And my hope is that– it happens. “

Late Friday night, after the media refused to cover anything except the Clinton wedding… the Waters story broke.  How convenient, likely by Monday nobody will remember it, except perhaps us bloggers and Fox News.

A second House Democrat, Rep. Maxine Waters of California, could face an ethics trial this fall, further complicating the election outlook for the party as it battles to retain its majority.

People familiar with the investigation, who were not authorized to be quoted about charges before they are made public, say the allegations could be announced next week. The House ethics committee declined Friday to make any public statement on the matter.

Waters, 71, has been under investigation for a possible conflict of interest involving a bank that was seeking federal aid. Her husband owned stock in the bank and had served on its board.

Isn’t it funny that when one drains a swamp there is no telling just what has been buried in that mire for decades?  My goodness, what is next will they investigate Rep. Barney Frank and Sen. Chris Dodd for conflict of interest in favorable loans from banks they bailed out after forcing them to provide underfunded loans via Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae?  You never know if the President keeps throwing his constituents under the bus, they may get angry enough to ask for his birth certificate.

Has anyone ever seen a swamp drain itself? The only way to drain the D.C. swamp is scrape the scum off the top so we can see what else is required to drain this nasty pit of excrement. The DOJ Should, I say should, not will, investigate Rangle and Waters. Seems to me Federal laws were violated. To be fair it is not only Dumbercraps that are the problem, there is a former Marine, yes former Marine Ace in prison now from the RINO party. I feel so bad for him. Where can he spend his Congressional pension in prison? Yup, all of these elected and appointed officials including convicted judges get their salary or their pension while in prison for Federal crimes. It will take external forces to drain this swamp, sand we will not like what is found on the bottom of this scum filled hole.  (Quote)

The swamp is only a problem whenever there is a Republican congress – when it is run by those with a “D” behind their names, all is tidy and clean, right? Unless the person with a “D” behind their name happens to p*ss off the ruling class, then they are dog meat (Jim Trafficant, call your office).

Whenever a Democrat promises low taxes, grab on to you wallet.

Whenever a Democrat promises efficient government, laugh in their face.

Whenever a Democrat promises transparency, ethical behavior, to follow the rule of law and to obey the will of the people, give your vote to someone else because they are lying through their teeth.  (Quote)

I’ve been remembering how the dems a few years ago were screaming about the “culture of corruption.”

They’re pretty quiet these days.  (Quote)
